Ibuprofen HTP 400 mg, coated tablets
Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and fever-reducing painkiller.
What is this medicine used for
For the relief of headache, rheumatic pain, muscle pain, lumbago (lower back pain), menstrual pain, toothache, pain and fever associated with flu and colds, and pain and fever associated with vaccination.
Do not use
- If you are allergic to one of the substances in this medicine.
- If you have severe heart failure.
- If you have asthma attacks resulting from the use of ibuprofen in your medical history or are known to have hypersensitivity to the group of medicines to which ibuprofen belongs, the so-called NSAIDs.
- If you have previously had gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation when using NSAIDs.
- If you have an active or recurrent gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or ulcerative inflammation of the colon (colitis).
- If you have a severe impairment of kidney or liver function.
- If you have a spontaneously increased tendency to bleed or use blood thinners (anticoagulants).
- If you suffer from other bleeding, e.g., a brain hemorrhage.
- During the third trimester of pregnancy.
Take special care
Warning:
- This medicine can cause stomach complaints, especially with prolonged use. We advise you to read the package leaflet before use.

- This medicine carries a risk of headache with prolonged use for headache. We advise you to read the package leaflet before use.
- Consult a doctor before use for the elderly, people with cardiovascular diseases, asthma, psoriasis, gastrointestinal disorders, or an increased risk of these.
- Stop use immediately in case of skin rash or sores in the mouth and contact a doctor.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- During pregnancy: Must NOT be used, unless strictly advised by a doctor.
- During breastfeeding: Must NOT be used, unless strictly advised by a doctor.
Other information
Consult a general practitioner (doctor):
- If there are pain symptoms lasting longer than two weeks or flu symptoms lasting longer than a week that do not improve.
- If you need painkillers for headache three days a week or more.
- If using an NSAID and you experience stomach trouble or dark black stools.
Do not use in case of:
- If a skin reaction occurs, stop use and consult a doctor.
- Do not use together with certain other medicines, see package leaflet.
- This medicine may temporarily affect fertility during use.
Active ingredients
Each tablet contains 400 mg ibuprofen.
Excipients (inactive ingredients)
Corn starch, pregelatinized corn starch, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium starch glycolate type A, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose type 2910 5cP, erythrosine (E 127), and polyethylene glycol 6000 (only in the 400 mg tablet).
Dosage
For adults and children older than 12 years:
The recommended dosage is first 2 tablets of 200 mg OR 1 tablet of 400 mg, followed if necessary by 1 or 2 tablets of 200 mg or 1 tablet of 400 mg at a time.
You may take a maximum of 6 tablets of 200 mg or 3 tablets of 400 mg per day (= 24 hours).
Maximum dosage
1 tablet, 3 times per 24 hours.
