Voltaren Emulgel 1.16 %, Gel
Voltaren Emulgel is specially designed for rubbing into the skin. The active substance, diclofenac, belongs to the group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
What is this medicine used for
Local relief of mild to moderate joint pain of the knee or fingers.
Do not use
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to diclofenac, or other medicines used to treat pain, fever, or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid (a substance also used to prevent blood clotting). If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to these medicines can be: attacks of breathlessness caused by muscle cramping and swelling of the lining of the airways often accompanied by coughing and phlegm (asthma), wheezing or shortness of breath, skin rash with intense itching and hives, swollen face or tongue, runny nose.
- If you are allergic to any of the other substances in this medicine. These substances can be found under point 6 (Excipients).
- During the third trimester of your pregnancy.
Take special care
Warning:
- Stop using immediately if a skin rash occurs and contact a doctor.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- During pregnancy: Must NOT be used, unless strictly advised by a doctor.
- During breastfeeding: Must NOT be used, unless strictly advised by a doctor.
Other information
Do not use in case of:
- Do not use on open wounds, eczema, acne, infected skin, mucous membranes, or near the eyes.
- Do not apply under airtight dressings and avoid sunlight and tanning beds during treatment and for 2 weeks afterwards.
Active ingredients
Diclofenac diethylammonium.
Excipients (inactive ingredients)
Carbomer, macrogol cetostearyl ether, cocoyl caprylocaprate, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, perfume cream 45 (containing benzyl benzoate), purified water.
Dosage
For adults and children older than 12 years:
Apply Voltaren Emulgel 4 times a day to the area of the knee or hand that is painful.
Maximum dosage
4 times per 24 hours.
